Calling Laura "my friend Laura" is pretty much an inside joke stemming from conversations between my husband and me.

I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to photograph Laura and her family several times. She is one of my many friends who has had such faith in my photography business and the growth thereof. I feel extremely blessed to call her my friend. She is one of my prayer warriors that I call on and always know she will pray for whatever I request. I do the same for her. How comforting...

I wanted to share some of her latest family shots.

When we first met, she only had Abbie and she was just a little fart. Now, there are three little rugrats with Ty and sweet Ms. Callie Sue.

I love those kids, I tell you! When Abbie was little I taught her how to give the peace sign and say "peace out". I'm glad I could have a part in her proper raising! LOL

Can you imagine these little angels acting like this??? (Sorry, Laura) hehehe

Let's just say, this photoshoot was quite interesting! :)

I am so glad to have "my friend Laura" and her family in my life!

Menu planning

In order to hold myself accountable, AND to help me remember because my memory ain't so hot anymore, I am going to try to blog my menu plan each week. I hope this process gets easier and more of a habit the more I do it.

I have been reading some blogs on menu planning, freezer and crock-pot cooking and one task I have in mind for my weekend is to do some ground beef freezer cooking. I decided that would be the easiest and most versatile ingredient to start.

I used this blog post as inspiration and I now have in my freezer:

3 pans of 3-cheese baked ziti
12 mini-meatloaves
1 lb. taco meat

and crock pot orange chicken ready to cook for supper tomorrow night.
I also fixed a huge pot of veggie beef soup for lunch today and froze the leftovers.
AND, I plan to fix Mexican chicken and Spanish rice this week, so I will make an extra pan for the freezer while I'm making it.

Not bad for my first go at freezer cooking.

Week 1 | Resolution

I have talked about my resolutions already this year so I won't bore you with more of the same.
Instead I'll share my first week's photo for Project 52.

I have 3 different 365 photo apps on my iPhone right now, until I decide which one I will use.
Anal, I know.
....and, yes, I am putting each day's photo onto each calendar.

Although I think a 365 photography project sounds next to impossible with my camera and posting/blogging each day, but with my mobile device, it's easy peasy!

I am not a huge resolution maker, but I do have a couple of goals this year.

First, is to try to be more aware of my budget and attempt to be a better saver. I would like to work toward Dave Ramsey's baby steps to living a debt-free life. That seems so unattainable to me, but I know anything is possible if one works hard.

In doing that and trying to be more "green" I have started by making my own laundry soap. Super easy peasey and so far it seems to be working like a charm. :) I did the simple Borax, A&H Washing Powder and Fals Naptha soap mixture. There are several different ways to do it.

(Click photo for a link to the simple recipe I used or check Pinterest or Google if you are interested. Also, I would love any advice on other simple ways to save around the house in like ways.

I am going to work toward better menu planning again. I am hot and cold with this one. {sort of like blog posting. ;-) } Along with that, I hope to do a better job with couponing and grabbing deals when grocery shopping; and I will try my hat at some freezer cooking.

Of course, me, along with every other human being on the planet wants to try to be more fit. We'll see how that goes. ugh

So, do I think these are attainable?

Of course they are. It just takes a little work and a lot of willpower.

Oh my goodness, I cannot actually believe it's been over two months since I have posted anything! I decided I definitely needed to post the remainder of my 52 week project for 2011 and report that I have decided not to do the self portraits again for 2012. I need a break from myself! LOL

I will be trying out a new 52 week photo project over at My 3 Boybarians using a prompt each week.

I'm also going to attempt the 365 project using an app on my iPhone. I hope that will be pretty simple since I usually take at least one random photo each day anyway.

This was a quick shot I did while heading to a conference last Sunday. These trees at my workplace are absolutely stunning right now. This shot had no real plan I just aimed and fired.

In the words of Bob Ross, it was a "happy accident". :)

It reminds me of watching fireworks in July, so I call it "autumn fireworks".

So I was going for an old glamorous Hollywood feel in this week's photo. I thought my Mom had an old pair of cat-eye style glasses (she used to wear them back in the day) but alas we could not find them. :(

We did find my old pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarer style shades though so I decided those would be as old school as I was getting for this shot.

I obviously did some post editing on this one to give it a dramatic feel.

Oh and remember me showing you my branding last week for my photo stuff? Well, I worked on my site yesterday and thought I'd hook it up here. My blog will probably undergo a facelift to emphasize my photography, but I have not given up on Clever Notions either. I hope to pick up my crochet hook soon and crank out some crochet candy flowers. I also have some headbands in various stages of production so I will have some ready soon.

If you know me at all, you know I am constantly trying new things and starting new projects. This photography thing, though, is something I've been working toward for awhile. It was not something I could just plunge into all at once.

The last two week's worth of photos have a fall feel, don't you think?

I played with some fun textures and overlays on this first photo. I really need to do more of that.

The weather has been splendid the past few days...perfect sunny days and mild temps. I am so digging it! If Fall would stay like this I would be a little more welcoming. Guess Fall doesn't care if I welcome it or not...it is coming, ready or not!

Oh, and I have taken my photography a little further. I have actually designed a logo and built my smug mug site a little more with pricing. Super excited about the possibilities. Maybe some changes around the old bloggy blog soon.

Just a warning before you read further....I don't want to offend you if you are into the hair feather phenomena, so you may want to stop reading here!

I'm just not a fan.
Why?
I have no clue.

I mean if you got in on the feathers and then got out when everyone and their dogs were getting them, that's cool, but at this point in time I think it's time to let it go.

SERIOUSLY People, do you really think your dog wants to wear another animal's covering hanging off his ear? It's really kind of creepy if you think about it.

Now, let me say, for these younger girls, who want to sport a funky hot pink or lime green feather for a few days, yes.

HOWEVER...

If you are considered an adult (which I realize can vary), or unless you are Steven Tyler, then please just say no to fowl decor in your locks.

So here is my attempt at humor when it comes to the whole hair feather thing.

Again, I hope I don't offend. If you are rocking the feather, then glory be, rock that sucker.

This is just my opinion and that's one reason for my blog...to post my opinion! :)

ETA: I have also read something which may or may not be accurate, but apparently the roosters that grow these skinny little striped feathers that most people are wearing, don't survive the plucking process. Now, I'm not a freaky animal activist by any means, but that just sounds rather cruel and sad to me. Anyway, just putting that out there. Here is the story I read.

I thought it was high time that Mr. Angus made another 52 Week appearance.

Trust me, it was hot.

The sheet, is a pretty vintage that was given to me by my friend Sonja. I love vintage sheets and I love that there are awesome people who know that and stay on the look-out for me. :)

If you follow the link and see that ruffle quilt that I talked about last year, well, I have not even started cutting any strips to begin this project. In fact, another wonderful friend of mine's mother made Carlee one.

Me on the other hand....I'll probably do something a little simpler

than that for my first quilt project.

This was last week's 52 Week shot. Nothing real special about it, but I feel like I look content and relaxed in this shot and that is exactly what I am!

In reading more and more about photography and thinking about where I want to go next in my own photog quest, I am thinking about my "look". I don't mean my personal looks! I mean the look of my photography.

You know, most photographers have a trademark look, something to keep them distinct and different from everyone else. I don't really know what my trademark is so I've been going through some of my shots to see what my common thread is. One thing I have found is I lean toward a warmer tone in my shots. In fact, sometimes I think I tend to go warm too much and try to occasionally cool things off!

If you notice other things that set my photos off from others, I would love any input! Or if there is something you think I should work more on, or a look I should include more or less, I welcome any feedback or constructive criticism. (I have my big girl panties on so don't worry about hurting my feelings!.) :o)

Every summer, I admire the pretty Queen Anne's Lace that grows rampant around these parts.

It's dainty, lacy, weedy self grows along the roads and in the fields.

I'm sure it may be a nuisance to many, but to me it just splendid looking!

I decided these shots would be fun to experiment with.

I've been a pinning fool on Pinterest lately and one of my favorite boards to pin to is my "Good Words for the Soul" board which is basically quotes, quips, scripture, funny and serious that I either find or repin.

I love this one in particular:

Some happiness to share

As captured by my Instagram yesterday: I call this my Perma-Grin look! Why all the happy and smile you ask? Well, I have accepted a new job this week and I couldn't be happier!

It has been time for something new in that aspect for awhile so when this opportunity came along I jumped at it and landed it!

Looking so forward to new challenges...it feels like a huge weight has been lifted and I truly believe that God has been preparing me for this for sometime now that I look back on the last few years. I have asked Him "Why?" on so many things and now I know! I love when I finally get the answers. It makes me know that I MUST trust Him - I mean I know I must trust Him, but sometimes it is easier said that done!

So, let's just say this perma-grin is brought to you in full by my great God!

This is another Instagram from yesterday. This little message was put on the public restroom mirror at work that I use many months ago. I have looked at it daily just knowing it was put there for me! Well, yesterday when I saw it, I actually burst into tears! Tears of happiness for knowing without a doubt it was for me! The cool part about it is I am sure it has touched others who frequent that ladies' room in the same way.

People are so cool when they do little things like this that make such a huge impact on others....I know whomever put this message up was totally led by God.

I plan to put up a little message similar to this in a random public place and I challenge you to do the same! You never know who or how many people you may impact!

I begin my new job on July 18 and am just so excited!!! For those of you who have prayed for me on this, all I can say is THANKS from the bottom of my heart! Oh and for those who are local and would know, I am going to work at UACCB as Assistant to the Chancellor.

Dear Carlee

I decided it was high time I update the blog with some new Carlee Claire eye candy since I have not done so since she was born. I have just been keeping my Facebook updated so more family and friends can see her.

Excuse me while I write a little personal note to this sweet angel

who has overtaken our hearts.

You my dear have left me with a feeling in my heart that I cannot express in words.

I know....you are not my blood granddaughter, but that does not matter to me and I hope it won't matter to you, because becoming your Grammy has been the most delightful thing!

It absolutely pleases me to no end to watch you and see what in the heck you are going to do next!

You totally crack me up and when I see you or talk about you I know my face lights up with PURE JOY!

The expressions you have are just too funny and your personality is already larger than life!
I could just sit and watch you for hours!

Well, I could if you would stay still long enough!!

Let's just say you are a tad bit high maintenance!

I mean this newborn shot of you was taken at 2 weeks old and you wallowed yourself right off the quilt and turned yourself over!
You even lost your umbilical cord during this little photoshoot! Crazy Girl!

Your Daddy really gets wild and crazy when he's trying to make you content...but you love it!

You sleep pretty well at night...however, you don't take many naps during the day AND you prefer to fight sleep! You don't have trouble eating and again, your Momma takes every measure to keep herself healthy so she can keep you healthy!

There are days that I just can't stand not to see you!!!

Your Momma has been so good to send me and your Grandma Cindy phone pictures though, which I like to call my "Daily Carlee fix".
Those have been the highlights of my days the last month and a half and I like to show them off to my friends. :)

You, little angel are truly a piece of Heaven and I just adore and love you to pieces!

I do hope we can be friends.

I have tons I want to teach you and do with you and for you.

Mostly, I want you to learn about God. I want you to know that you are ultimately His child and that with that in your life you will live to your fullest potential.

So, I'll admit it....I'm officially a horrible blogger!
I mean, it's bad when you cannot even post once per week.

I seriously don't know why my interest in blogging has not been there. I have gone back to older posts to see what used to excite me enough to blog about...and I loved some of those posts that really were for no other reason but for me to read.

I think blogging has gotten to the point of worrying about who is going to read my posts or how many people are following my blog to see if what I say is interesting...That's really not why I even began blogging in the first place! Why do we as humans get so caught up in what others think? *sigh*

I want to start blogging again for one person and one person only: ME! If anyone else reads it, well, that's okay, but I'm going to vow to quit worrying about such things!

NOW, for the real post...the last three weeks' 52 Week Project photos.

The Chalkboard Wall

So back to this monster chalkboard wall. I must share this awesome work from these two budding artists - This is exactly why I thought painting them a huge chalkboard in their playroom would be better than any toy I could buy them at Wal-Mart!

These two are so gifted and our family has encouraged them in every way with music, art, and their schoolwork. (You may recall Joe's Elvis impersonations...he's sort of famous for it locally). We are very proud of them and are enjoying watching them blossom into wonderful little dudes!

I hate to admit this but I erased this entire wall so I could set up my Week 23 shot. They were cool with it though. This mural has been up for many months, so once my little project was over and erased, I'm sure they started a new masterpiece.

I love the little details they have included. Joe (the older one in white) has his stuff on the left and Jake's is on the right. They are so clever, they traced the shape of the guitar from a real guitar!

The only part of the wall that I was not allowed to erase was "Crazy Man" which is Jake's piece. He said he really liked "Crazy Man" and really didn't want to lose him. (obviously, Cousin Kim obliged!)

Excuse the quality of this one, it was a quick phone shot.

I totally recommend the chalkboard wall - I would however use a wall that doesn't have as much texture as their sheetrock. I purchased my paint at Home Depot and went through almost 2 quarts after a good primer (there was a painted mural on the wall).

I gave them each a box of white chalk and colored chalk and I think it has really inspired their creativity on a large scale.

This is a challenge I've had on my mind for awhile - well, since Jen posted her week 3 photo waaaaaaaaay back in January. (which feels like it was just yesterday, by the way!)

Anyway, this photo has been in my mind and I knew I wanted to do something similar utilizing the huge chalkboard wall that I painted as a gift to Joe & Jake for Christmas. {sidenote: They are my young cousins who have a huge playroom and tons of stuff - so I thought this would be a clever gift for them. I was right.. I'll post some of their artwork in another blogpost.}

I so excited about the new twist over at 52 Week Project! I was needing a boost of inspiration and when Jill contacted me about an idea I was thrilled! She proposed to try some weekly challenges for the self-portraits during June AND she wanted to guest post. {Um, Bonus!}

Jill already inspires me with her fitness infused photos each week so I knew her challenges would be a hit.

The first post went live on Friday.
Challenge: Use lighting to express yourself.

Here is mine...

Taken with natural light through side and front windows in a dark room. The bonus when I looked through the 2-3 frames I took was the little cast shadow from the bill of the cap (borrowed my little cousin Jake. Yes, he is super cool.)

If you have followed my blog at all you may remember me posting about Case Lee Whitten, who would be 5 years old this summer. I know Case is watching his little sister from heaven and will be her guardian angel.

It's been a rough few years on my stepson and DIL, Cody and Amy after losing Case at 5 days old with a serious and rare genetic disorder, but the amount of prayers that have been lifted for them is probably not measurable on this Earth.

I honestly had no doubt that God would make this child completely perfect and I am so full of pure JOY that Carlee has made her debut and all apprehension that our family and friends had completely melted away Thursday morning when this blessing arrived.

I just give thanks to the Lord for his mercy and rich blessings on our family for allowing us to spend many years to come with our angel on Earth, Carlee Claire Whitten.

I decided to do something a little different and non-traditional this time.

I am truly blessed with a wonderful mother! Her unconditional love for me is amazing!

Happy Mother's Day to you one and all. Since I am not a "real" biological mother but have had quite a hand in raising stepchildren, I leave you with this wonderful poem I found. I truly feel these words!

Well, once again I have neglected to post. :(

Our weather has been totally crazy with storms, floods, tornadoes and such and ironically my Week 17 pic was a capture of an oncoming storm and my little cousins and I doing a little acting! We were fortunate right where we live, but others around...not so much. I pray that our storm season is nearing the end for the year! Those tornadoes in Alabama are truly sickening. I also pray for those being affected by the flooding rivers. The Mississippi is expected to crest in the next several days and it is heartbreaking how many people have had to leave their homes and belongings behind.

I guess this photo will also remind me of what has occurred during the Spring of 2011.

Last week's photo was just the typical bathroom mirror shot with a little fun post-editing. I think this particular editing utilized Coffee Shop Photography blog action. {Have I mentioned lately how much I love her actions? Well, I do!}

Heart-shaped-strawberry-pink-ice cubes.

This is a sort of tutorial. I mean really you probably don't need a tutorial to make ice cubes with fruit, but humor me if you will, I felt like a genius for doing this!

Last weekend was my stepson and daughter-in-law's baby shower for Carlee Claire who will be here soon! I helped with said shower and was in charge of punch, decor, and tableclothes. Well, not only did I get a little crafty with the decor (enter tissue paper pom-poms) but I decided to jazz up the sherbet punch. I chose raspberry by the way so the punch would be girlie and pink!

I had some strawberries on hand and thought I could make some ice cubes for the punch for a little added fun.

Wasn't wanting to use ice cube trays as that would be boring (plus I didn't have any) so I opted for a muffin tin.

Told you I was genius!

I then decided the ice cubes needed a little color so I went digging for some food coloring to mix with water...then it hit me....pink lemonade! Which I didn't have on hand, but I did have these Crystal Light pink lemonade packs that you mix with a bottle of water.

Shazam! pink ice cubes!

Thought if I cut the strawberries just right they would resemble hearts.

(these would be cute for a Valentine dinner or banquet too, don't you think?)

So I added a heart-shape slice and added a little lemonade -

I probably filled up my tins one-third or so.

I put my tin in the freezer and waited till they were frozen.

Then voila....I had my sweet little pink strawberry ice cubes!

They popped out of the muffin tin super easy and I just stored them in a plastic dish in the freezer.

Little strawberry hearts frozen in pink! Can you get any more girlie and sweet?

And here is the final product...pink sherbet punch for a pink girlie baby shower!

The ice cubes ended up in the cups and were a nice surprise for guests

Oh, I didn't mention this is served in my Grandmother's antique milk glass punch bowl.

Week 16 is a tribute to my family that I married into...the Whitten's
That lady there in the middle probably shouldn't even be alive right now, but her strength and faith has given her more life to live. The other reason she is her is that baby bump you see over on the right...that would be Ms. Carlee Claire Whitten, aka "peanuts" and she is coming very soon and making me into a grandmother! {it's really weird to type that!}

This was taken at Amy's shower last Sunday and represents the majority of the women tied to the Whitten family.

So I am a week behind...oh well.

This is one of my favorite so far this year.

I took this one out by my Mom's toward the farm.
There is nothing more peaceful than my grandparents' farm. When I am there I feel a sense of peace and love like none other. I truly feel God's presence and people there really is nothing better than that.

The sky was a little overcast and it was pretty windy, but it felt amazing!

If you have read my blog in the past you know home much I adore sunsets. Well, I looked out a couple of evenings ago and the sky had this beautiful pinkish hue so I grabbed the camera to capture some images. Those types of lighting situations always make everything look amazing.

Well, I suppose it's time to dust this thing off and post something!

I have been so absent from anything creative, reading my favorite blogs, posting here and barely doing my 52 week picture! About all I've done online is Facebook and Twitter...mostly because they are on my phone.

However, I am hoping things are turning around! Memaw is finally home after 3 months and 2 weeks. Praise the Lord for his Mercy on her and Bless her for her Faith in God and strong will to live! It has been a roller coaster and one that we are hoping will just stay on a straight line for awhile.

I decided I would start by going ahead and posting the last two weeks of my 52 week project.

This first one is a little triptych of my groovy dance moves! ;) I love to dance and decided I should try to capture that somehow. I was in front of a window so there was a bright light behind me - thus the washed out look around my silhouette.

After a long weekend of one thing after another, my energy was on empty so I decided since I spend at least 40 hours a week at work, mostly at my desk, I should capture that somehow. Thus Week 14:

Definitely not my favorite, but I love how it also captured part of my little camera collection, my letterpress print and all the little things I surround myself with each day. I look pretty rough, but mind you this was at the end of the day right before going home and it had been a crazy Monday. I had jury duty, got stuck in pouring down rain, and faced a huge to-do list when I finally got to the office, so I was pooped!

Hopefully it won't be another 2 weeks before I post again.

WARNING: this is a little wordy...I know! Hard to believe right?

I was totally uninspired and not "feeling" any ideas for this week's photo.

Then, on our {almost} nightly drive to the hospital Sunday evening, I told James that I meant to pick Memaw some jonquils to take to her to brighten up her room, but forgot. Well, we kept passing little patches of them along the way - you know...the places where old house places once stood.

Finally, we passed by a huge patch right off the road in a driveway leading to a cemetery. {ETA: locals, it's across from the Sidney turn-off, cannot remember the name} {ETAx2: drove by today, it's Maxville Cemetery}. We turned the car around and went back deciding that since it was a cemetery it probably would not upset the property owner too much if we picked a few of their pretty flowers to brighten up a 91 year old lady's day! (I know, I know, I can justify anything!)

Anyway, after picking the flowers and driving on down the cemetery driveway to turn the car around we came upon what I assume is an old log church? Then, I had the epiphany!!! This would be the perfect setting for my Week 11 photo.

So I stopped the car and grabbed my camera. James rolled his eyes...he thinks it is completey silly that I take and post pictures of myself... but actually agreed to take the picture for me...and I might add, he did a darn fine job! I had set up the shot and got the camera ready - explained how I wanted it framed and he did it. I had actually set this up to be a landscape shot, but he turned the camera sideways once and took a single frame.

It is actually one of my favorites of this year's project, which proves a point that I try to make about tackling the 52 Week Project: Just have fun, be spontaneous and simply take some pictures. Not everything has to be planned out or follow a theme. I had no idea that that random purple cardi and red cami would look so nice with yellow jonquils against the wonderful woodsey texture of that old structure.

On Basketball

With the start of the NCAA Tourney, I thought I'd go a little crazy and post about something new (posting about anything on my blog these days is a feat in itself, really!)

Basketball. It's something I played once upon a time ...... a very long time ago!
Both my parents and several grandparents played.

Being from Arkansas I'm a Razorback through and through. Although admittedly I have not been following closely the last few years, I do love the Hogs!

My Mom on the other hand...you might say is a tad fanatical about 'her Hogs'. In fact she has a room devoted to Razorbacks, a drawer full of Razorback t-shirts, Razorback jewelry, and this past Christmas...yes, you guessed it, a Razorback tree.

(after thought: I should have gathered pics pre-blogging, sorry)

Anyway, I'll not bore you with the whole Pelphrey firing etc, but let's just say, I am ready to for a coach that will at least get us to the dang tournament!!! GEEZ

A shot at my Mom's utilizing her wonderful natural light last Sunday.

On another note/Memaw update: She is actually improving and doing well! Praise the Good Lord!!! Finally got released to start putting weight on her leg (the one with the broken hip from December) so if we can get her to eat better and build up some strength, she may get to come home. Something we had almost given up on.

Well, I decided I was not going to mess around this week about posting my Week 8 pic.
I actually took out my camera today and used it!
First time I've done that in awhile except for my 52 Week Project shots.

I am so ready for Spring and color again.

It felt so good to just be out today and have nowhere to be.

I felt FREE!

This was actually taken by my Mom. She and I went on a nice little nature walk around the farm today and I wanted to capture more of this pretty golden field, and since my remote only reaches so far, I set up the shot and had her do the snapping! I'd say she did pretty good capturing my jumps! ;)

Funny thing about "jump shots" are the outtakes! I will do a post with those later...they are definitely good for a laugh. :D

I know I promised some meaty posts like two weeks ago, but alas it has not happened.
I'm just spent both physically and emotionally so I'm just going with the bare minimum at this point. I do hope to be back to normal (as if THAT is possible) soon.

The Sunday afternoon I did Week 5 I had a little creative boost so I went all "sad gypsy/pirate" up in here.

I was pleased with the results of this one.

I'm all seriousface.

The tears and sadness are just kind of 'me' lately with all that is going on but we all have to have some sadness and tears in our life occasionally.

It makes us appreciate the smiles and happier times. Right?

At some point I promise to post something on my blog besides my weekly photo! Between Memaw, me being sick, work and life I just can't seem to get it together!

After having the "stomach crud" for several days (even in this photo) I decided to go with a stark B&W gritty look...mainly to hide my sunken eyes and pale listless face!

This was my other option after editing, but the darker one just fit my mood and feeling better.

(Sporting a Clever Notions headband that was custom made for a friend! Have to take them on an occasional test run! ;) Quality control, man!)

So this week's photo is actually an edit from what I originally had....I had posted it on FB and apparently it was perceived as a wee bit risque...although I can ASSURE you that was the intention!

I had an idea for a perspective of my camera on the ground pointing straight up - well, let's just say I have on a dress, tights and boots and there was absolutely, positively nothing showing - it was totally dark and shadowed...but to save any crazy Facebook scandals, I cropped and reposted :)

Well, I needed to come check in with my friends and make sure all is well on the old bloggy-blog!

I just had to share this pretty with you!!! I don't know if you have read my blog long, but you may remember my "Oh Sheet!" post back in September. I was on the hunt for wild and crazy vintage sheets to make a pretty ruffly quilt - a pattern I had found on Etsy.

I shared this pattern with my friend's mom, Fern who is the quilt queen and just look at what she did!!!

I am so happy to see this finished product - although she said it was not the easiest task in the world. Fern (left) made this for her daughter, Laura's (right) daughter.

This is made from her grandmother's old sheets, which makes this such a special quilt!
I really had planned to make this my "wintertime" project, but it seems I have not found the time yet. OOPS...but seeing this makes me want to get started immediately!

Pretty eh?

Week 2 did not turn out quite like I'd hoped, but I am rolling with it anyway. It seems to have somewhat of a retro 80's vibe and we all know I love me some 80's!

Hoping to start some fun little photo challenges over on the 52 Week Project blog very soon. I'm always needing some new motivation and a challenge is always, well, a Challenge! HA

In other news of my life besides this project that seems to be the only thing I've blogged about in a few weeks {sorry to be so repetitive}, my MIL finally got out of the hospital. (insert cheers) - It's been over 3 weeks and we are truthfully just 'plum' wore out! She is in a local long-term rehab that is in a nursing home. It's not the ideal situation by any means, but we are just praying every day that just being in there will keep her attitude positive and her body and mind motivated to get the heck out of Dodge!

I have such a new perspective of aging - it's really a sad thing in all honesty. BUT, I also don't think we can give up hope at that point either. That is not what God wants. He has a reason for it. My emotions have been from one end of the spectrum to the other on this can you tell?

Thanks for all the prayers for Memaw. We really felt them all and I know that is what got her through the ordeal of being a 91 year old broken-hip-going-through-some-rehab-having-a-heart-attack-plus-pneumonia-heart-cath-complications-afterwords-pseudo-aneurysm-in-both-legs-almost-having-to-have-another-surgery-constipated and incontinent-having woman!

Keep praying for her recuperation and hopefully back home with us soon!

I must join the rest of the bloggy world and post some thoughts for a new year.

I don't really have a one word or anything for 2011.

Well, okay, I just thought of one: BETTER

Yes, that will be my word for 2011.

If I had to go back and think of my word in hindsight for 2010, it would be TRANSITION.

It was definitely a transitional year for me:

it was my year of being 40.
It was my year for many disappointments in several aspects of my life from family to friends to work.
It was also my year to grow in Faith.
It was a year for me to get to know me and like me for ME.
It was a year to complete a project.
It was a year that we became an empty nest.
It was a year that I grew in confidence.
It was a year that I started running.
Mostly, I think it was a year that I quit totally focusing on everyone else and began putting myself first at times and realized that it not such a bad thing!

This year I hope to be BETTER:

Better in balancing my life.
Better in my Christian life.
Better at photography.
Better at friendship.
Better at being a wife, daughter, stepmom, sister, cousin, niece, DIL, and any other family place that I hold.
Better at not procrastinating.
Better at time management (oh wait that is basically the same thing, right?)
Better at keeping things orderly, neat and clean.
Better at saving.

I know there are others, but I'll let 2011 take care of those as they come.

I also want to point out that my devotional last night focused on Psalm 51:10: Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Basically, the writer pointed out that we can make resolutions to change at any time of the year. We don't have to wait - nor does God want us to wait - until one day of the 365 we recognize in a year to wipe the slate clean and begin a fresh start.

So with that being said, I may fail at some of my goals and resolutions throughout the year, but I resolve to pick myself up, dust myself off, and jump back i the proverbial saddle and have a "do over", so Happy New Year to you and a Better New Year to me! ;)

52 Week Project

The 52 Week Project

This is something that is very near and dear to me and although I don't know exactly where this project is going to lead, I just feel good about it!

I am so thankful to my friend B for helping me with the site and offering his expertise in both photography and web design. He will be offering some great posts along the way too. In fact, the site won't just be my crazed ramblings all the time (I know you are relieved), but I'm hoping there will be many different voices and guests along the way.

In fact, if you have something you would like to offer, please PLEASE let me know! I am looking for a variety of posts from photography, to styling, all things vintage, how to live a happier life, time management, blogging or online business tips and anything visual or creatively stimulating! Mainly, I want this project and site to be a comfortable, non intimidating place for anyone!

I know I have mentioned it before on here (probably more than once) but I just must say it again....this last year of self-portraits has helped me grow. Not only in my photography and getting to know my camera, but just as a person in general. I feel so much more in tune with me and feel more confident in who I am and my place in the world.

So I realize it may not affect others in that way. I mean, I'm not crazy enough to think taking a picture of myself every Sunday could have that big of an impact, but it has been fun and I've enjoyed the process and I am looking forward to others joining in with me!

I also want to mention that although I did ~~overcome~~ sort of overcome my fear of photos of myself, that may not be your thing right now. That's okay too! If you want to use this project as a way to document your child, your home, your pet, or just random photos each week, that is great! We won't be selfie-snobs up in here! ;)

Week 52!!!

I did it, I did it!!!!

I made it through the year!

It feels so good to accomplish a goal....a resolution.

I didn't make them all. I had planned to read my Bible through in a year, which I didn't complete, but I am not discouraged. I will continue pressing on. The point is I have been reading my Bible and I have gained so much from doing it. I will finish this one - I'm not going to let a calendar stop me.

Stay tuned....the site for next year's 52 week project is in the works and I hope it is ready to roll by the week's end!

Hospital time

Just a quick post - I'm in the hospital.
Well, I'm not acutally in the hospital, but I'm here with my mother-in-law who fell and broke her hip this week.
Sucks to be in the hospital.
Really REALLY sucks.

My MIL is 91, just turned it last week actually. Here she is during our Christmas celebration a couple of weeks ago acting silly! When she smiles she closes her eyes so this is her propping her eyes open for a picture. Except...funny thing is, her eyes are still closed! :)

{and yes, she is sporting her Snuggie!}

She's a real trooper.
A hard worker, a selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, MIL and friend.

She lives with my hubs and me.
Always has, since we've been married.

I can count on one hand how many times she has not slept under our roof.

One of those was last night.

There will be many more in the next few weeks as she heals, recovers and rehabilitates.

I know you have had some experience more than likely with a hosptial visit or stay. Don't you agree that the time in a hospital is off kilter somehow?

Sometimes, time goes super fast....other times it stand stills.

It's just odd.

Anyway, we will more than likely be spending Christmas here.

Not exactly what we had planned:
I don't have all my gift buying or wrapping done.
I don't have my groceries bought for the dishes I am supposed to make.
But, guess what?
I'm just not stressing out about that right now. I think I'm doing what I am suppose to be doing and that's okay.

Please be praying for my MIL, or as we all call her: "Memaw". I would appreicate if you will also pray for me and my hubs as we have a lot facing us with this situation.

wow! I cannot believe I'm at Week 50!!!

You know I have to get my Christmas on in the old 52 week project!

The little tree is one I put up in Alex's old room for Brooke during her visit a few weeks ago.

That room is also servign as my gift and wrapping landing zone!

The chalkboard was on my Wishpot and Brooke got it for me (she drew my name, Yay!).

It is one of Rachel Denbow's that is for sale in Red Velvet.

I was so thrilled to get this gem and feel sure it will show up again in other photo shoots. ;0)

So I'm mentioned and hinted several times about a possible new project

AND I've asked if anyone would be interested in doing this project with me for 2011....

so can you put 2 and 2 together????

I'm so excited and looking forward to many possibilities for this project.

I promise to post just as soon as everything is in place and ready,

but I do hope you will charge up your camera batteries

and get ready for a 52 Week Project.

What is IN my cup

It seems my blog posts have a theme this week.

So now I want to talk about what is IN my cup.

Can you imagine just wanting a clean drink of water for Christmas?

Better yet, can you imagine your CHILD wanting a clean drink of water for Christmas?

Well, imagine if all you wanted was clean water to drink 365 days a year?

I cannot - nor do I even want to quite honestly!

My bloggy/twitter/crafty friend Prudy has been led to begin

a little campaign through myCharity water to raise

$500 toward a Christmas water project.

She asked her bloggy/twitter/crafty friends to

join in her efforts to raise awareness

and ask for a small gift toward the campaign.

I was totally in as I also feel passionate about the mission

of assisting the over a billion in developing

countries who don't have access to clean water.

In fact, our church supports Living Water International

each month and so I am essentially already supporting

this effort through tithe and offering, but feel led to do a little more.

$500 seems like a lot of money to me,

but in reality, it's really not if we can raise awareness

to have many people who are willing to help Prudy's effort.

Amazingly, $500 will help 25 people get water!

How cool is that!?

I think it would be really nifty to know I had a hand

in giving such a gift as clean water to 5 families.

Because I feel so strongly about this cause,

I am going to do a little giveaway in conjunction with this -

I'm asking you to donate, but you may not have the funds to do that right now.

Trust me, I completely understand!

However, you have a voice, a blog, a Facebook account,

Twitter, so you can help spread the word and it won't cost you a thing!

Who knows, Ellen, Demi or Ashton might see your tweet and retweet it.

Consider this part two to yesterday's post about how blessed I am.

Not only is my cup overflowing...my cup has grown!

This is about an event that I was honored to take part in a couple of weeks ago.
A couple of dear friends who attend different churches and I decided to get
our churches to partner to host an event we called Care 2 Share.

We had done a similar event a couple of years ago

through our workplace, but felt led to do this

as a ministry to get those in our community into

our churches and show them a little bit of the love that only God can offer...

that unconditional, no questions asked kind of love.

The idea, to give something to those who might not have the
same resources we have or maybe they were just having
a crappy year and needed a little help for the holidays.

Basically the way it worked was anyone who wanted to participate
brought their cast off items - but good cast-off items -
the kind that could be regifted or reused.

The idea was those who had a need could come and

trade non-perishable food items for things they need.

OR, they could just come get what they needed.

We even had a gift wrapping station set up so

their gifts could go home and be ready for Christmas!

were only 5 boxes of things left,which were taken to a local mission.}
Well, let me tell you, it was a huge success!

It's hard for me to express how I felt after

taking part is this ministry and truly seeing what

a need there is right in my own community.

There are several touching stories from the time leading
up to the day of the event, and stories that happened during the event,
and I'm sure there are stories still happening.

There were even children involved in helping organize and prepare.

Is there anything better than teaching your children to give and help others?!

The point is we made a difference!

Now, I don't know if souls were saved or lives were changed

(well besides mine and probably others who took part),

but hopefully seeds were planted and maybe,
just maybe when some of the many wonderful people and children
who were able to share in a new toy, or a warmer coat,
or even a some new Christmas decorations will have a
positive feeling about our churches and the love that God has to share.

I want to encourage anyone reading this to get involved in some way.
Regardless of your circumstances, you have something to offer.
Whether it's helping in a shelter,
donating items to a place that resells and uses money for a cause,
cooking a meal for someone you know is in need,
sponsoring a child for Christmas...whatever you feel led to do...just do it!

I can promise you,

there is a blessing in there for you

and it feels really good when your cup grows

and continues to overflow!

Being a Christian and having Faith is a very important part of my life.

It's who I am.

It makes me, ME.

Sometimes, I'll admit, it's hard.

Sometimes, life sucks.

Sometimes, Faith can waver and I get discouraged.

I mean, let's face it, life is nowhere near perfect....
I don't think that was ever a Promise of God.

Lately, though, I feel overly blessed.

I feel like little things are going right and even though I struggle with many aspects of my life, I feel stronger, I feel happy about who I am and what I stand for, and I feel like I'm coming up the mountain to the peak- out of that proverbial shadow of the valley of death!

(if you've read my blog, you might recall this depressing post) GAH.

I think during this time of year - you know...the holidays?

Yes, I think during this time of year I tend to reflect on positives in my life.

No, I don't have the money to buy everyone I want to a gift.

BUT, I do have tons of people who I feel are worthy of a gift.

No, I don't have a picture perfect home that is decorated all Martha Stewart-y
or adequate for fancy dinner parties like I'd like to host.

BUT, I do have a roof over my head and a sweet
little fencepost tree that makes me smile.

No, I don't have an extravagant plans for a holiday trip to New York
or a full calendar of fabulous New Years Eve gatherings,

BUT, I do have family and friends who invite me to their homes
to celebrate occasions in down home, laid back style.

Yes, my cup truly overflows.

Next up.... how my cup has grown!

prettiful silliful sisters

Words cannot even describe how special last week was having family together for our early Christmas. Even though we didn't get to ALL be together for extended periods of time while Brooke was home, these two sisters were able to spend lots of time together and I think they enjoyed it and probably needed it!

They are just fun to be with and in my opinion they are simply prettiful! :)

They are equally as SILLIFUL as they are PRETTIFUL!!!

And it's amazing how the older, married one is more so silly than the younger!

I can feel the love but apparently one sister feels it more than the other!

I miss seeing their pretty faces and silly antics around these parts!

I love fortune cookies!

This one from lunch with a great friend or "prend" a couple of weeks ago

Week 46

Random things I like about this picture:

I like the way wood looks stacked up - pretty texture, no?
I like that you can see my wedding ring with my Granny's pearl ring nestled in between my set. Finally took that sucker out of the drawer to wear...use the good China, I say!
I like that I'm wearing my Toms, sans socks, in November!
I like my favorite old Levi's that are getting to the point of thread-bare. {I will mourn the day they finally give way.}
I like that necklace.
I like that my sleeves are long. {most sleeves are not like that on my monkey arms}
I like that I was able to photoshop a zit off my chin.

I will not mention the things I don't like, but I will say that they are less than what they would have been before I started this 52 week project. I cannot believe it's already Week 46!

Oh, and did I mention that I'm in serious mode on the 52 Week Project for 2011?

Well, I am.

I have lots of ideas to make this a fun interactive project for anyone who wants to participate. It's not about taking the most beautiful pictures...it's about learning more about and playing with your camera, learning to like yourself and being comfortable in front of the camera, getting creative, and mostly it's about having a little fun!

Radio, Presidents and Faith

I have been listening to K-Love for several months now and truly receive a blessing each and every day. Not just from the music, but many of the messages from other listeners, DJs and guests.

It is amazing how music can touch so many people across the world - especially when that music is created by Christians with a positive message. I sure recommend it over some of the mess that's on the radio...especially if you are toting around the kiddos!

Now, I consider myself a Democrat, but I'm a conservative Democrat. I have great respect for many politicians...including Both George Bushes. I know, you are asking yourself what in the world I'm talking about and what does a radio station have to do with my feelings about former Presidents!

Well, the link at the end of this post will take you to a podcast that K-Love ran the other morning and it is George W. talking about Billy Graham...one of THE great evangelists of our time. It truly touched me and felt I needed to share it.

Week 45

I suppose with the colder weather the crochet bug has bitten me again.

I phase through some of my favorite crafts and I have not picked up my crochet hook for a few weeks, so I broke that baby out this weekend to work on some crochet candy.

Everytime I look at this basket of colorful goodness it makes me so happy, so I decided it would be a perfect feature in my 52 week project this week. In fact, it's pretty much the focal point, but I'm in there so it counts as a self-portrait, right!? Plus there is a little cameo appearance by the one who is always by my side when I'm crocheting: Angus! :)

This week when I'm stressed out, I think this picture will be my happy place. :)

Moxie Mandie

I must tell you about my friend Mandie's very cute wares in her brand new Etsy shop called Moxie Mandie.

First of all, she is just an awesome person. Seriously! Read just a few of her blog posts and you'll see!

Second, she has worked hard to attain some mad sewing skills and is making these adorable zipper pouches.

Third, Her generosity and spirit of helping others truly amazes me.

Take for instance how she has decided to donate 10% of her sales this month to something she is passionate about. She is doing this for another adorable girl on the interwebs, Emily over at the Anderson Family Crew. Her photos are splendid, by the way! They are adopting a little girl from Africa and need to alleviate some of the costs.

Week 44 Halloween!

Well I must admit that I love me some Halloween!

Not because of the scary or evil factor.

No, I just love to dress up!

Yes, I'm just a big kid at heart.

I have actually don't three different costumes over the weekend.

First we have Week 44 of my 52 week project:

This was my original costume idea for last night's festivities at our church, but I changed at last minute from this butterfly, gothic-y fairy character to this scarecrow:

This is a costume I made almost 20 years ago for a Wizard of Oz, Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow costume contest my friends and I entered. It has been used many times over the years and actually won me first place last night!

Friday at work we set up a trick or treat table for the kiddos at the daycare associated with the college where I work, and our theme was witches, so there I am (far right) as a witch. (digging those witches hats we found at Wal-Mart!)

I must say that being a Christian, I know that this secular holiday is not really "celebrated" but I do enjoy the fun that surrounds October 31st - the Fall chill in the air, the candy, food, smells and of course the costumes!!!

I just think you have to know - and teach your children - that this is a make believe holiday and embrace the positive - eliminate the negative - make it a time for fellowship and fun and a lesson in NOT being afraid.

Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in him with all my heart...

Make it a day for treats and love and smiles! :)

more fall from the farm

Week 43

What glorious weather we've been having lately - perfect temps and beautiful colors abound...although we desperately need rain and had we had more of it earlier the fall colors would be unstoppable right now!

But alas, I'm satisfied with this weather - and wish it would stay like this and not get cold and gray. Dreading that already.

So I knew my weekly shot had to include some of the brilliance of Fall - and where better than the farm! This is on my Mom's place, formerly my Grandparents - this is right along the river and these yellow leaves made a beautiful glowing canopy - how perfect!?

My 43rd week shot was a toss up - I went with the second of these simply because it was more fun and whimsical! I used Pioneer Woman's Colorized action and added some of the yellow back into the leaves I was playing with. The first one just had a color boost added...the leaves were really that pretty.

Get out there and enjoy this weather and grab some Fall shots - regardless of your camera - it must be captured and enjoyed! :)

PS: so happy that some of you have an interest in my 52 week self portrait project! More on that later. :)

Week 42

So Week 42...

I cannot believe there are only 10 more weeks to go!
This has been one of the best experiences I must say - a little daunting at times and somewhat intimidating, but I have really grown in my photography skills as well as my self-esteem.

This was taken in my hotel room at Hot Springs during a conference I was attending. Used the lamps as my light source. I love the warm color and design of the sofa!

I am seriously considering doing this again for 2011 but starting a separate blog and Facebook group for others to join. For those of you reading my blog who are not on FB, I've changed my profile picture to my 52 week picture every week and have an overwhelming amount of people keeping up with my progress and looking forward to seeing them each week. I thought there might be some interest from others playing along. Any takers? I was thinking of adding in some prompts or ideas if people were stumped and needed some inspiration.

I welcome any other ideas for this project!
Are we not FB friends???? Well, let's fix that right now!

Week 41

Well, today is 10.10.10.

It is also my Granny Hutchison's birthday - hard to believe she's been gone almost 15 years.

The sunsets have been fabulous this weekend, so I thought I would incorporate my love of sunsets into my 52 week project.

I also want to thank each of you that left sweet comments on my last post. It was heartfelt and something I wanted to share for others dealing with change - good and/or bad, in their life. I treasure each comment from you and appreciate you coming here and reading my odd array of ramblings from time-to-time! :)

This online community can be such a nice refuge for friends, conversation, thoughts, prayers and inspiration! It gets a bad rap sometimes, but I for one embrace the positive - just like in my "offline" life.

Changes

this is the post where I get all philosophical - just fair warning...

Lately there have been so many changes in my life.
Some good, some bad.

The good is that I continue to grow in my Faith. I am relying and depending on God to get me through all this change, and honestly that feels pretty darn good. I feel at peace with all that is going on around me that is totally out of my control. I realize what I can control is how I react to situations and that I have to remain true to who I am. I am doing just that and it really feels good to be me and look at myself in the mirror each morning knowing that I am certainly not perfect, but my imperfection is what makes me ME!

Some of the bad things that are changing in life....losing people I care about...friends, family and acquaintances. Some have been from dying and some have been through other means. I have felt hurt and sad over some of the situations, but again, I know it is only making me stronger. Plus, it makes room in my life for more of the good, more of the positive, and more of the people who care about me for who I am...the me: unplugged! :)

I think we get a little complacent in our life situations, whether it be home, family, work, or church and I suppose God has to shake things up to get our attention and get us back on the road forward instead of wandering off kicking rocks in the ditch. I admit I am a little scared, but a little excited at what God has in store for me. I know I have to be patient - these things happen at just the right time.

Change is always so hard, but as cliche as it sounds, change can be good! I am trying to learn to embrace it or at least take it for what it is and learn to adapt.

Week 40

Well, this week's photo doesn't actually fit into the self-portrait category, but I have lost my camera's battery charger and my camera died so my sweet friend Zeda took this with her lovely iPhone at an event we were attending on Saturday for work in my little town. It was Ash Flat's Eaglefest.

I may look like I'm cutting up in this photo, but this was serious business people...I was a pie judge. Yes, pie judging is definitely serious business in small town south! AND, it's a hard job, but as the saying goes...someone has to do it, right? ;)
I should mention, I also judged cookies and chili during the festival.

I have purchased a new charger, so I hope to be back in business by Week 41.

I also hope to get some Clever Notion headbands listed in the Etsy shop.

And on a sad note, I have had more bad news in my family...my mom's dearest and best friend passed away unexpectedly late last week; and my great uncle passed on Saturday.

I have really had enough doom & gloom lately, but I am remaining faithful that God will get me through the valley.

The 23rd Psalm is always a good one to read in the down times.

Hello craftiness

I know my blog has been quiet, but trust me I've been a busy bee in other areas of my life.
Between all the illnesses in my family and losing my aunt, work and other activities; it's just been hectic.
HOWEVER....I have been crafting!
In fact, I have been working like crazy on my new headbands.
NOW, I must get them listed in my Clever Notions Etsy shop.
Since I live in Arkansas and we Arkansans have Razorback Football Fever, I have made Razorback themed headbands.
These will fit all shapes and sizes of heads, which is what I really love about them. They are the first headbands that I feel like I can wear comfortably and that stay in place! They are self tying, so fully adjustable.

Week 39

A quick shot before leaving for church - it had rained and was considerably cooler.

Felt like the real first day of Fall.

I have mixed feelings about this.

I have a love/hate relationship with Fall...

Love the actual Fall.

Hate what comes after.

(well, maybe hate is a strong word, but I very much dislike the gray days of winter.)

I will take lots of days like today though.

In related news, we had our first pot of chili tonight!

I do look forward to soups and chilis. :)

I am hoping to catch up on my favorite blogs - I am missing all of you and missing all the inspiration...I've just let my blog reader get completely out of control and when that happens, it makes my feel guilty and then I continue to let it grow out-of-control. Why do we let guilt creep in on us over the small things!? GEEZ

A wee bit behind: Weeks 36 and 37

Sorry for the lack of activity the last few days...I've had some personal stuff going on and have just been preoccupied.

I do want to get the last two weeks of my 52 week project posted for posterity's sake.

Week 36

I am obviously totally inspired by Kara - this shirt features her lovely *pun intended* handwriting and I had been inspired by another post from her blog a few weeks ago with my fresh out of the shower, no make-up look.

Week 37

I lost my Aunt Kathi (my mom's oldest sister) on Friday night - I was actually with her when she passed away and I will probably blog about it sometime, but for now, I will say she is now cancer free and living the good life...the eternal life...with God in Heaven.

This week's photo is my tribute to her....she was an artist and has always encouraged my creativeness. For that I am thankful! The camo headwrap was fabric I had gotten to make her some cancer caps. She loves to hunt so this was perfect for her. She loved nature and the outdoors, so this was done outside. More than anything though, she loved her family and the Lord.

She will be greatly missed and I feel so blessed that she was such a huge impact in my life.

Hello gray greasy hairs

I love clean sheets, don't you?

In fact, if money was no object and I could pick one frivolous thing to do it would be fresh, clean sheets every day!

I have a new obsession with sheets...vintage and retro sheets.

I bought four great sets from a friend's yard sale. I have found oddballs at thrift stores and various yard sales.

don't worry, I immediately wash them...the whole bedbug thing is sort of freaking me out!

Why you ask?

Because I plan on making one of these lovely ruffly quilt.

l was excited to see my name over at Marit's blog. So cool to "meet" people online with similar interests out of all the bazillion people in the world, but even cooler to reacquaint after losing them in the hubbub of the world wide web! So glad to reconnect Marit. :)

Back in the Proverbial ATC saddle

So I was so excited to see some of the old familiar faces back in the ATC beeswax again.

Angie, - if you were ever over at SIStv, you will remember Angie, aka Hulhen (tee hee), has started a groovy site called Simply ArTiStic! The concept is 'like whoa' cool! Two ATC's a month for four months based around a particular theme. There are prompts given on the 1st and 15th and then when you upload your card to the gallery you are automatically participating in a swap for that card. I loved the ATC swaps at SIS and have some great little pieces of art because of it. Plus doing a couple of ATC's a month is so doable! I am actually making two, one to swap and one to keep for my set.

She has some other familiar SISters who joined her on the design team and I am happy yet sad. Happy because I made an ATC again and participated in the first swap. Sad because I missed the dang deadline yesterday so I didn't get in on the second one.

You know when you are asked what your favorite food is?

I never really know what to say.

I love all kinds of food.

I think though my favorite food is definitely avocado.

I mean I seriously, absolutely, definitely LOVE avocado,

like to the point of eating one with every single meal!

Is that weird?

I know they are full of fat, but it's the good kind of fat,

so it's really okay to eat them a bunch, right?

If you happen to be reading this and grow avocados

and need to get rid of some, you can go ahead and ship them here to me.

Also, did you know that you need 2 avocado trees to get avocados? I know this because when I was a kid my mom and I grew a tree, from a pit we saved from an avocado... but no fruit! Then a neighbor planted one... and VOILA!!!
