Back in the Proverbial ATC saddle

So I was so excited to see some of the old familiar faces back in the ATC beeswax again.

Angie, - if you were ever over at SIStv, you will remember Angie, aka Hulhen (tee hee), has started a groovy site called Simply ArTiStic!  The concept is 'like whoa' cool!  Two ATC's a month for four months based around a particular theme.  There are prompts given on the 1st and 15th and then when you upload your card to the gallery you are automatically participating in a swap for that card.  I loved the ATC swaps at SIS and have some great little pieces of art because of it.  Plus doing a couple of ATC's a month is so doable!  I am actually making two, one to swap and one to keep for my set.

She has some other familiar SISters who joined her on the design team and I am happy yet sad.  Happy because I made an ATC again and participated in the first swap. Sad because I missed the dang deadline yesterday so I didn't get in on the second one.

Here is my first card:

Here is the card I received from Joanne Nishimitsu in the mail yesterday:

Thought it was nifty we both used mushrooms in our cards.

The first theme is Wonderland and is based on Alice in Wonderland. Cool, eh?

I just wanted to give it a little shout out in case anyone wanted to get in on the 3rd ATC.  The new prompt is up.  I plan to participate and not miss the deadline this time.

under the weather

is where I have been.
YUCK!
I was down all weekend and finally broke down today and went to the doctor.
That is a rare event with me.
I never ever go to the doctor.

Anyway, it's an upper respiratory infection and I am now on a Z-pack.
Hope to feel better.

I pretty much lost my voice over the weekend.

Today I just sound like a big ole toad.

Not only am I under the weather...I'm also waiting on the weather.

Evidently we have a huge ice storm heading our way.
Must be, because every single human being was in Wal-Mart.

They (whomever "they" are) say we might lose power
because of ice on the power lines.
I am pretty sure I might go insane without internet or tv.
Might do us good to have to entertain ourselves.
Game night maybe?

On a crafy note:
Here are some ATC's I did for a Valentine/love swap that this fly diva is hosting. Made 35 of these babies. I wanted to keep it simple so I used my favorite: kraft cardstock, some Hambly, glimmer mist and white pen. I just cut out a heart to use as a mask and glimmer misted my heart out! I kept thinking I would add more, but I just thought the simplicity was pretty cool.

It will be fun to get them all and hope we don't have any flakers!

okay, I'm getting back in my pj's now and finding a quilt...brrrrr.

winter arrives

This is a shot leaving work today at 4:30.
Doesn't it just look cold and wintry?
I've said it before and I cannot say it enough...I've just not a winter/cold weather fan.
This sky is quite picturesque though.

I worked in AF today.
I absolutely love the atmosphere & environment that my office there offers.
It just makes for a pleasant day.
I love the set up in this office.
Sitting at the computer and being able to see what's going on outside...
it's divine.
I share this space and we have gotten along quite well with our decor.
I have set up some of my favorite ATC's along the windowsill.
These are from a favorite photo ATC swap I did over at SIS.
Tis fun to look at them.
Inspiring, creatively.
and beyond those little pieces of art:
The beautiful view outside.
Even with the stripping of green that old man winter has offered,
it is wonderful to look out to the beauty of the awesome country where I live.
I see the occasional deer and other little wood wanderers.
My "roomie" has put up a birdhouse on the outside of our window.
We have seen lots of birds on our sill this fall.
I love it being able to "be" outside the four walls of an office.
I'm blessed indeed!

A shot of my planner with my note regarding something I need to do this weekend.
We are having a holiday event to try to help our students (and each other) called
Care 2 Share.
The idea is similar to a swap.
Where friends get together with nice or gently used items or clothing and swap stuff with each other.
We are going to offer our students three items upon showing their student ID, or they can swap the regular way.
We are also offering free gift wrapping.
Hopefully we can help folks pick up some Christmas gifts.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Stacy over at Taylor Tidbits has tagged me and I promised to comply, so without further adieu:
Here is the tag list:
1- Show both left & right handwriting.
2- list 5 of your 50/50's.
3- 5 pet peeves and
5- 5 things that don't mix well.

Here is my handwriting using both right & left

Not bad if I do say so myself.

My 50/50's:
  1. brown or black. I love wearing both equally well. Probably black would win out.
  2. chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Depends on the brand I think.
  3. down comforter or good & worn in quilt. Really a toughie.
  4. antique or modern decor. I tend to lean toward antique.
  5. Country or Rock. Depends on what day it is.
Pet peeves (only five, but rest assured there are more.)
  1. laziness
  2. someone riding my bumper.
  3. being poked.
  4. Sci-fi channel.
  5. stepping in someone's gum on the ground.
Five things that don't mix well:
  1. flip flops & socks.
  2. my taste & my pocketbook.
  3. me & cold weather.
  4. reading & being sleepy.
  5. photos & water.
Okay, so now I am tagging some of my lovely fellow bloggers.
Karla Marla
Nancy
Teresa
Jeanie O
Lynne (probably already tagged)

Have fun ladies!

It ain't easy bein' green

that is my color in the ATC color swap I signed up for and I had fun making all 17 of those little green machines! I cannot wait to get all the colors back and look at everyone elses handiwork on these. This is the first swap like this I have done, so I hope my work halfway holds a candle to the others.

Here is the entire pile of cards. I am pretty happy with the way they turned out actually. My next endeavor is the ATC alphabet swap. My letter: Q. I am also doing a bible verse ATC swap. I am really looking forward to it. Which reminds me...

I have another goal for the new year: reading through the entire bible. My friend Suellen is also doing this and she had one of the bibles set up to read by date. She let me borrow it to bring home over the weekend to catch up. Then I will be following along on through Bible Study Tools (BST) which I found through an online ad on one of my emailed devotionals. I am really excited about tackling this and really think it will be something good to do at this phase of my life. I am going to read the New Living Translation because I can follow it pretty well and understand it.
Happy Weekend!
