le county fair

Okay, so that "le" doesn't really work in that context, but I'm too lazy to click back up there and delete.

Sad, but true.

Last week was so very busy.  I was at our county fair EVERY SINGLE NIGHT OF IT!

Yes you heard me correct.  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday AND Saturday...I was there.

Did I mention it was incredibly hot?

well, it was.

I do love the fair though I must admit.  (UNlike my friend Karla). psssht, she doesn't know what she's missing.

Now, I must say I normally have entries in the fair...photography and crafts and such, but I never got around to getting my stuff ready (reference that lazy thing again).

In fact, one of my favorite parts of the fair is looking at all the exhibits.  Ask me if I walked into the exhibit hall one time on my five nights at the fair?

You:  Did you go visit the exhibit hall during all your time spent at the fair, Kim?

Me:  Well, since you asked, I must say 'no' I did not even go see all the exhibits!!

You:  Wow, you must have been busy and you are so incredibly beautiful. Are you a model?

Oh sorry, I got carried away with our conversation.

I'll shut up now and post some photos!
...for your county fair viewing enjoyment:

that silly kid!
A couple of ladies from my hometown working the ticket window (one of my jobs during the week) They were dressed as carnies!

I encourage you to attend a fair this fall.....and I do recommend waiting until FALL!

Fair Re-Cap

So we made it through another year of our county fair.
We were blessed with cooler weather than we normally have.
We did have a little rain, but nothing to close anything down.
Here is a little view of our week!
Tuesday: first day horseshow
Thursday: goat (wasn't there so no pics) and cattle show.
Friday night: rodeo
Saturday: Farm Olympics hosted by Alex's FFA
(used Pioneer Woman's Fresh & Colorful, Boost and edge burn on this one)There was an antique tractor show. I love looking at these!
(more PW action on this one)
Saturday afternoon: Alex wins the County's Finest Showman for the second year running. Lindsay Huffmaster was her junior helper this year.
As always, I'm happy when this week is over so we can get some rest!
Today was spent doing our biggest community service activity for 4H, we clean the entire fairgrounds. Picking up trash from the midway and rodeo is not a pleasant experience I can tell you, but it is nice to be able to give back to our community in this way and when everything is cleaned up and back in its place it is quite rewarding!

I'll end with this old phrase:
Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute!
Please, when you are out at a public place or event, throw your trash in the nearest receptacle. Someone WILL have to pick it up at some point!

Yes, I'm still here

It's been yet another crazy week around here.
I've been out at the county fair every night.
Tomorrow is a day off and because of Hippy having an injury we won't be going to Southern Regionals tomorrow. I hate that Alex is missing that show, but I'm honestly looking forward to an unplanned day of rest!

I have some scrapbooking to finish up and photograph for the upcoming August kit at Crazy Daisy Kit Co. I am loving that kit, btw!

In the meantime, here is a little sneaky peek of some of the luscious paper in this kit!
I'll have more tomorrow.

Also, check out the latest posts on the Crazy Daisy Blog.

My new online friend and neighbor Lisa Hodge joined the kit club last month and is this month's featured member!

I love what she did with that tissue box. :)

I'll be back tomorrow with more!

fair weather

Couldn't have been more perfect weather for the fair and the other bazillion events that I was involved with last weekend. I love the fair and the weather that goes along with it...well, except our county fair which takes place in July when it's 100 degrees!

This was the North Central Arkansas District Fair and is our last "hurrah" for Alex's show season. It is a little sad, yet a relief to be done for another year.

Took these at sunset when we got to the fairground on Saturday evening. I have had fun playing around with these in PS and used some crazy action called "happy" I downloaded from deviantart.
Looks very retro....me likey!
I love everything about the fair:
  • the weather
  • the food
  • the lights
  • the activities
  • the sounds
  • the exhibits
  • the people you see like one a year....at the fair.
Call me old-fashioned, but anywhere that celebrates homemade goods, fun for the kiddos, and good conversation with your neighbors is a good place to be!

County's Finest

After three years of Alex
and her friend Leighann
being in the Sharp County's Finest
or Best of Best, they finally won!
Alex was so excited.
It was a goal she had set for herself.
For those who don't know how it works, they take the winners from Senior Showmanship in cattle, goats, swine, and sheep and they pick a junior helper. They have to take the four animals (not their own, they are assigned) and prepare them to show, show them and have knowledge of each species.
This year they didn't have any senior sheep showmen, so they only showed three of the four.
The really cool part is that this is Leighann's last year as a junior so this would have been the last time they could win together as a team.

Very proud of this and Alex's other accomplishments.
