Scrapjacked - Amy Lapi

Okay, I have not done the Scrapjacked challenge in AGES! This one was a good one and I had to do it.
I took this picture of Hadley and Kyle on February 23rd on our family bowling trip for Hadley's birthday.
We had a blast and I took lots of pictures (as usual). I love this one of my little brothers. They are each so different and unique and I'm proud of both of them.
I used some of my SIStv Boutique Style Phyle from February called Kitschy Kitschy Koo. It's a new fun & funky monthly kit that I signed up for. It has odds and ends - a lot of vintage-y stuff (like this smiley face playing card) and the ultra cool houndstooth gaffer tape. I cannot stress how much I love the Boutique and their wonderful customer service.

Sounds I *heart* - Sara Berry jack

I really like the way this layout turned out. This is actually for two different challenges. The overall design is a jack from Sara Berry for this week's scrapjacked challenge. The content is the journaling prompt from the From the Journal Jar site: "what are your favorite sounds."

When thinking about sounds I enjoy what God has created for me to hear. Things that evoke feelings or bring back memories. Senses can definitely do that...sounds, smells, things you see or taste.

Each sound described has a different feeling for me. Spring is my favorite time of year and when I can go outside and hear the crickets and tree frogs at night, I know spring is near. I love, LOVE spring.

The sound of snow falling is simply a cool experience. It is such a still, clean, quiet sound. Especially early in the morning before people are trying to venture out in their cars. Quiet can be a great sound, but the soft rustling of snow hitting the surfaces is just calming.

Another calming sound for me is the Spring River. We have spent lots of time laying on the banks of that river - the best times are Sunday afternoons when hardly anyone is around and you can just lay back, feel the sun, and listen to the river. We always go to Spring River Oaks and just hang out. It is true peace. All your worries, problems, and life can just be on hold for awhile. My hubby and I have had a lot of times on the river that are great memories.

Nothing beats the sound of a steady rain on a tin roof - it's a true country thing to love I suppose.

Distant thunder may be a strange sound to love, but I do like the sound of a storm. Although it makes me a little anxious, a good old thunderstorm (minus tornadoes of course) is a great sound to experience every once in awhile.

Scrapjacked - again!

I finished another scrapjacked lo last night. I must be melancholy lately, I seem to be using vintage materials and "shabbying" them up the last few days. Or maybe I was truly inspired by the effer this week nisa fiin and her vintage/shabby style. Whatever the reason, here is what I came up with. My love of sewing and scraping all rolled up into one! Scrapjacked #3 August

I have so many pictures of Alex and Molly. These are from the Fourth of July this summer. They are both a.dore.able! I have been wanting to use this cute little berry patch I found awhile back...reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake!
This is for the Genevieve Simmons Scrapjacked challenge #3. TFL

scrapjacked week 2 - Rick

This is my lift for Scrapjacked Week 2 - Meghan Dymock.

Rick is a family friend who passed away last week. I had taken pictures of him this summer when he visited Arkansas (one of his last wishes was to come see my family and spend time in Arkansas again). It was a hard journey from Tuscon, Arizona being sick and on oxygen, but he was determined! I had only met him twice in my life, but I have known him forever and he had a major impact on my entire family.
I enjoyed the process of this LO it was great therapy! I used a piece of black chipboard from my RV July kit and layered some torn papers and stamping on the entire background. The "FUN" transparent letters are my own creation and Creative Imagination stamps and some American Craft and MAMBI rubons on I had. I also had some Making Memories metal embellies that I used for the arrow. Oh, the button! - I was playing with a Sharpie and some glitter and glue. Added it at the end!
Journaling reads: Amazing how you barely know someone yet they make such a huge impact in your life. I think I met Rick in person only 2 or 3 times but I have always "known" him. Thankful to get to see him this summer. Even though he didn't feel well, he still was full of funny stories! He will forever be our Nintendo Wii coach!

Scrapjack Challenge

Okay, so I'm trying to do a few of these challenges from various blogs to work my brain a little since I've feeling kind of creatively blah as of late. Here is the Scrapjacked week #1 challenge. I did a 10x10 lo using some my minds eye "bohemia"papers, along with some thickers I've been dying to try out, and other bits of goodies from my stash. TFL!!!
