I am sure there will be more today....with her friend Sami!

The sun is shining brightly today but it is cold as a witch's t....um never mind. It's cold!

Another snow day today, so I'm eating pretzels and needing a shower.

Oh, and see the crocheted flowers in those pics?
Would you buy one of those and if so, would you rather buy the flower by itself or already attached to a hat/headband/scarf/gloves?
You're not locked in mind you....I'm just doing a little market research.

I love me some market research! :)

hello my poor neglected blog

Once again I have been a bad blog-momma and totally neglected you this week.
So sorry.
This week has been filled with the blahs.
melting snow and mud and muck
rain - which makes more mud and muck
gray and cold
I'm in that SAD frame of mind and am so ready for some sunshine and warmer temps.
Our snow is almost melted but I did take more pics last weekend, along with my fifth self-portrait-

SNOW

Like everyone else I know in the South, I'm posting snow pictures!
If you're on my facebook or flickr, chances are you have already seen these, but I had to blog them too!
ALSO, this is a monumental post...it's my 500th blog post!
WOW, that is unbelievable, no?
Here is the welcome sign into Ash Flat...a place that has had crazy weather events for the past three years...from F5 tornadoes, to floods, major ice storm, and now this blizzard!

Alot of these were taken from the warmth of the Dodge truck and some even through the windshield driving down the road, so don't judge the photography please!
the sun came out this afternoon and it was super bright and beautiful!

we drove around some back roads to get a glimpse of the untouched snow.

Unfortunately James stopped and we slid off into a small ditch -
and got stuck!

The best part of the story is how I was texting Alex about it and she was LOL'ing me! Then, later that evening, you'll never guess who ended up in that same rut!? You guessed it..Alex & Jessy! LOL to them. =)
My friend Jeanie was taking pictures of objects that look like faces...check this out:

I even found some groups over at Flickr for these types of found items!
(There is a group for everything on Flickr.)

I'm a sucker for animals in the snow.
Brody is always willing to have his photo taken:

Angus....not so much!

Dog was not amused at all I'm thinking:

The snow came down all day and night yesterday and it blew a lot - in fact it completely covered our back porch (covered porch). This chair was underneath, as was part of the wood.

More to come tomorrow I'm sure - got to do my 5th week of self-portrait!

crochet flowers bring snow showers

Been in a crochet flower frenzy the past few days.
Enjoying these especially:

Here is the tutorial if you'd like to give it a whirl:

Alex even liked it!

She asked if I could put it on her hat and I think it looks smashing.

I have found a few more flowers and even a cute little crocheted heart.

Has given me something to do in during this crazy snowy blizzard that we are experiencing!

If it ever stops coming down, I'll take some pictures to share.
Happy Snow Day! :)

got to share this pretty

snowy sunset

So after a couple of days confined to four walls, it was time for me to get out...especially since the sun came out this afternoon.

What is prettier than the sunshine on a fresh blanket of snow.
It's so sparkly!

We went to Mom's for a bit and visited with her...bless her heart she was under the weather. :(

Anyway, as we were leaving the sun was setting and I grabbed a few shots.

Tomorrow my life of leisure ends and I return to work.

The forecast it more snow on Wednesday, so maybe...just maybe another unexpected day off.

That would be lovely. no?

snow much fun!!

Amy, Alex, and I had fun playing in the snow today! I have not actually "played" in the snow in quite some time!
Amy had the most fun sledding on this old Plymouth car hood! She and I were the only ones who would brave it. Talk about rednecks...this has to be one of those You might be a redneck if....jokes. Who cares...we had fun - Redneck Fun.I love this one of Amy behind the truck...she was grinning from ear to ear. I was too until my hubs pulled me through a huge stream of water. :\

We picked up Erin and Sami Jo and strolled down the road for some kneeboard action. That was a blast!

Here is Alex taking a spin on the board.

Then we have Sami who had a hard time getting started, but finally got the hang of it.

Oh, here comes Sami now:
Hey Sam!!!

Oh no, there goes Sami.

Poor Sami.

Check out Alex and Tracy's ginormous icicles!!!!

All in all it was a great day of snow fun! Even these geese and ducks enjoyed their day:

Post 200

Nothing in particular to blog about - well, besides the massive amount of snow that has been dumped on us! (pictures to follow later)

I just wanted to this post to be special since it's my 200th! Wow, I cannot believe it, but happy 200th post to me and my blog!

I feel like I need a cake or something...wait, there's donuts, that'll work!

snow and prends

WOW, it is really piling up out there tonight and is supposed to continue through tomorrow. I am so wishing for Spring, but this snow is pretty cool AND I don't have to work tomorrow...hip hip hooray!!!!

I want to get out and play tomorrow. I have yet to do that this year and this will probably be the last opportunity for awhile. I want to get some good pictures and promise to post.

Speaking of posting. I have not been posting my daily blessings, but I am still doing them, well, daily! I will try to get a collage type picture and post them all at once. I do have one that I promised my "prend" I would post. I am so thankful for all my wonderful friends and family.
I am also thankful for my "Prends".
{you know who you are!!!} ;-)

Winter to Spring to Winter

This weather has been so completely crazy! From Friday until Sunday I thought 'whoa baby! It's finally spring!"

Woke up today....HELLLOOOO SNOW! I don't have a clue how much we have but it's still falling and is so pretty. Another snow day, but I would trade it for 75 degrees and the sun again.

More snow overnight...

and another snow day for me!
Here is the same scene I've been taking pictures of to record the snowfall. I took this at about 10AM today after we had even more snow last night. The sun was peeping out which always makes everything glisten. I love it! All in all there is probably 5-6 inches according to the hubs. Of course he tends to exaggerate a tad bit where weather is concerned! He missed his calling I think and should have been a weather man. He loves following the weather, to the point of it pretty much drives me crazy at times watching the Weather Channel and listening to the NOAA weather radio! Anyway, he pegged the snow this time, so I'll give him a break.

Hello DOG!

Yes, this is Dog the horse! (don't ask it is another hubs story.) Long story short...when we got Dog, hubs said he would follow him around a dog...thus his name; Dog. I thought he looked endearing with snow on his whiskers and moisture on his nose/upper lip area. He's like, "Dang, it's flippin' cold out here people!"

On my journey outside this morning I was playing around with aperture settings on my camera and took this one of the snow on the barbed wire. I loved the DOF this captured.

I've been reading Understanding Exposure, a FAB book that breaks down photography techno-mumbo jumbo into easier to understand language for folks like me who just love photography and want to improve the quality of their pictures. I highly recommend the book.

I think the snow will start melting pretty quickly with the sun popping out and temps supposed to begin rising. Then everything starts really shining and glistening. I will probably get some more shots throughout the day.
I should probably shower, dress and make a trip to town as well. The highway is definitely clear and I'm getting a little touch of cabin fever by now. It's been great though being "stuck" in the house. I love the clean, quiet that snow creates on the world. God's way of shutting it up for awhile I imagine and force people to slow down...hang out with their families and reflect on the beauty that only He can create.

jack of diamonds - Finally a snow day today! It was gorgeous AND I have found out I have another one tomorrow. Cannot believe I get TWO snow days in a row. I feel like a kid again. :D

Snow by the Hour

First of all let me just state exactly how thrilled I am to have a snow day....FINALLY!!! Thought I would capture the snow each hour today to see how quickly it would pile up.

This morning when we got up we had a light dusting I took this picture at 8AM Central:

Shortly after, it began to snow and at 9AM, it looked like this:
It was really snowing then - big, beautiful, wet snowflakes. At 10AM we had this to look at:
It slacked off then and at 11AM, this is what it looked like:
Currently, it is not really snowing, but there is some type of precipitation coming down. I'll continue to take pictures throughout the day if it cranks up again.

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It is forecasted and I'm so thrilled!!! I really think this time it WILL snow. I just want one snow day, that's all! I'm really excited about the idea of staying home all day and being in my pj's. I know it's still a longshot, but it would be so awesome. I think I'm more excited than Alex for a snow day.

I'm ready snow, bring it on!
...then please go away and bring on the spring....thanks!
