softball season has rolled around

Alex is again playing softball - this is her senior year - so this is it for high school sports.
They lost most of their team last year - the team that went all the way to the State Finals and were runners-up two years in a row.

Honestly, I have not been looking forward to this year's season just because I was afraid of the let down.  It's hard to go from winning pretty much every game to not really knowing how it will go.  I had to miss the first few games simply because of them being so early and having to take so much time off work.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised after finally getting to attend a game this week.

I am very impressed with their young, up and coming pitcher, Haley.
How hard would it be to follow in the State's record breaking strike-out pitcher?  Well, Haley seems to be coming into her own.  Looking forward to seeing more from her!
Now, I must come to the part of this blog post that is totally going to sound like I'm bragging - and yes, I am so bear with me.  This is the part where I talk about Alex's awesome offensive skills AND her over the fence home run!!!!
I even captured the hit! :)

So so very proud of her for that!
Love these pics of her team coming out of the dugout to congratulate her when she crossed the home plate! :)

They have not won every game by any means, nor will they probably go to the State Finals this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing more from this team!

...and I'll admit, I was wrong, but ssshhhhhhh, don't tell anyone I said that. K?

my looooong weekend has begun

So after starting 10 hour days this week, I made it through without falling asleep once at work.
That is a good thing.

I'm so excited that I have officially begun my 4 day holiday weekend about an hour ago.
That is a good thing.

no horseshow or other commitments Saturday.
That is a good thing.

My hometown boy, Kris Allen won American Idol last night!
That is a good thing.

(you see where I'm going with this right?)

I do have some things I want to do during the next couple of days and decided to blog them so I might be more accountable.
here goes...in no particular order:
  • sleep past 5AM
  • finish a couple of layouts with my May Crazy Daisy kit. did one!
  • get some sun on my transparent legs. I shaved them, does that count for something?
  • pick up some graduation gifts.
  • put together the church directory and print a draft before Sunday. began this task.
  • pedicure (self-inflicted - I don't like others touching my tootsies)
  • change sheets & do a little laundry.
  • give Angus a bath.
  • take some random pictures just because.
(marked a few off and started on others...after day one, not bad!)

Dang, I didn't realize how many things I wanted to get done. I should probably get started on that pretty quick. I'm pretty sure I've got the first one covered!

This list is subject to change, btw.

Thanks & have a pleasant holiday weekend....let us not forgot the reason for Memorial Day - to celebrate those who have given their lives in service to our Country.

A few images from the last few days in my life....

last Saturday's never ending horseshow.
Alex receiving her All Regional/All-State Award from her softball coach, Becky Rider at the Softball Banquet. and finally....Ms. Tara Renee Rook got her diploma as she graduated from Kindergarten!
YAY TARA!!!Um, hello! How cute is that outfit?

softball disappointment

Should have won, but unfortunately did not pull it out - went into an extra inning and got beat by one stinkin' point. UGH!
These girls should not feel bad though, they played well and had a fantastic season.
We will miss those seniors but wish them well in their next step.

Was rather happy that these two made the journey to see their little sister and SIL play in the finals. Very sweet to sacrifice their Saturday to make the trek. I do know how valuable those Saturdays are!
Very proud of Brooke for having all A's this semester. She is working so hard and it will pay off for her someday.
Rob & Brooke are always a delight.

Pretty obvious they are sisters, huh?And these two crazy chicks are always up for clowning around, even when everyone else is sad.
Despite the loss, we had a great trip with our friend Carolyn. We ate at Red Lobster, which was Alex's choice...after we ate appetizers at Logan's Roadhouse (I think it was) with the entire team.

The softball chapter of 2009 is now closed.
The new chapter?
Yes, you guessed it, horseshow!

State Finals Bound

So proud of these girls for making it to the State Finals!
They will play on the Lady'Back Yard field Saturday at UofA
These pics are from yesterday. I unfortunately didn't get to see the semi-final round today.
Anyone can follow the action through a live stream of our local station 104.7 via the Highland Rebel website.
Was very proud of Alex for having an RBI today in the game against Malvern- our girls won 2-0.
They will face Dardanelle in the finals on Saturday.
Just praying the rain will dry up by then!
