5211-28 and Vintage sheets

I thought it was high time that Mr. Angus made another 52 Week appearance.
Trust me, it was hot.
How do I know?
(The wagging tongue is a huge giveaway!)
The sheet, is a pretty vintage that was given to me by my friend Sonja.  I love vintage sheets and I love that there are awesome people who know that and stay on the look-out for me. :)

If you follow the link and see that ruffle quilt that I talked about last year, well, I have not even started cutting any strips to begin this project. In fact, another wonderful friend of mine's mother made Carlee one.

Me on the other hand....I'll probably do something a little simpler
than that for my first quilt project.

Maybe something like this one:

I am also loving this embroidery hoop wall art:

Oh and my friend Mandie is selling some delightful vintage sheet fat quarters in her Moxie Mandie Etsy shop, so check those out if you are needing some cool pieces.

If you know of any other vintage sheet ideas, please link me up!

Hello gray greasy hairs

Why do I post pictures of the top of my head after a two mile run and entire day of hair products AND showing my age through all those stray gray hairs?

Because I simply had to share this fun little creation I made.

Gotta love vintage fabric made into swell hair accessories, no?

(note to self: consider picking up a bottle of Clairol).

Oh Sheet!

I love clean sheets, don't you?
In fact, if money was no object and I could pick one frivolous thing to do it would be fresh, clean sheets every day!

I have a new obsession with sheets...vintage and retro sheets.

I bought four great sets from a friend's yard sale. I have found oddballs at thrift stores and various yard sales.

don't worry, I immediately wash them...the whole bedbug thing is sort of freaking me out!

How awesome are these all stacked up together?

The colors!

The pretty florals

The wonderful stripes

The crisp, worn cotton

I'm on a quest for more.

Why you ask?

Because I plan on making one of these lovely ruffly quilt.
It will be my winter project and my goal is to make one in a queen size for my bed.
(I know, tis a lofty goal!)

Isn't it delightful???!!!

I purchased the pattern on Etsy.  It's a pdf and very detailed and easy to follow.

yard sale find

Been meaning to photograph this cool find from a quick yard sale stop a week or so ago. I spent a whole whopping 75 cents on this and a couple of other sewing notions and foam paint brushes. I thought a fine deal indeed! I saw this old rubber stamp holder and knew instantly it was going home with me to live on my scrap shelf to hold what few (one or two) rubber stamps I have. I found some other goodies to go on there too! I had to explain to Alex what it was.

5/52 Elsie's 52 week challenge

The challenge this week: bet you can find a place for a flower accent in your design. But take it up a notch. Embellish the center of your flower with a mini clock, a tiny thread tied button or patterned paper. And don't be afraid to turn a large flower shape into a photo frame.

I had to use this pic of Alex at some point. This is like her favorite picture ever! I took it while we were taking our family Christmas pictures back, end of of Nov - first of Dec. Anyway, I think it is a very good one too. I used some vintage gold notary seals and these great little owls that keep showing up on some of my favorite lo's! I also finally cut into another piece of my treasured Hambly. It always hurts to make that first cut. I don't know why! Maybe cause I'm a fREAK! Anyway the stems are pieces of a book page. This is not at all what I had pictured in my mind to do at first, but I really like the way it turned out. These challenges have been great for the creative.mojo.juices.
Speaking of Hambly...They have put up a sneak peek of their new brocade line on their blog. It is completely awesome looking and I cannot wait to see what else they do. I love working with their papers/overlays and need to try the rub-ons.

Divine*Vintage*Storage

I absolutely love to find a "find", especially cool vintage finds that are actually functionable and not simply dust collectors {well they are that too, but you know}. I know I seem to be reflecting on cousins a lot, but cousins are freaking cool, what can I say!!!??? My other cousin, Cindy has the niftiest store called "Stock Exchange" in the little, teeny, tiny town of Viola. It is a consignment/antique/crafty/hardware/retro/coolest darn store ever. She works so hard to keep it fresh and always has new stuff. Check out the sweet ribbon / embellie storage I bought in the greatest retro aqua... in the words of Randy Jackson, "it's da bomb!" Okay the bonus part of this is the ultra huge glass container she threw in from her "private collection" as a gift. OMG - I'm loving it! My scrap space, although limited, has to be the greatest this side of the Piney Creek! :~)
We are going to hook her up soon with a blog for the "Stock Exchange" but in the meantime you can envy me for having the inside track to this awesome little place in the Ozarks.
