I scrapped!

Yea for ME! I decided I needed a little help so I went to the Color Combo challenge site and cranked out this layout of one of Alex's prom pics.

I also finished part of the SIStv March Style Phyle - "Go Green" that I've been wanting to do. I plan to send this cute "think green" bag to Brooke. She is very conscientious about recycling and not using the plastic shopping bags when grocery shopping, so I thought she would appreciate it.

I also did a couple more of the challenges from Elsie's 52 Week Challenge. I'm not completely caught up, but I'm closer.

This one is Week 11, SCRAPLIFT A COLOR COMBINATION

Here is the description from the site:
I loved the blues, browns and oranges on Mellette's layout, so I decided to scraplift her color combination for my pages at the right. For this challenge, you can scraplift me or Mellette - or open up this book to any page and challenge yourself to scraplift the color scheme!Ok since everyone doesn't have the book, I'm gonna say that you should scraplift from any place that you want. A magazine, SIS, a challenge blog, whatever. Just scraplift a color combo from any layout that you like!Have fun!

I lifted the color from this ad. I loved the purple and green together.

I also did this one for week 13 - SCRAPLIFT A LAYOUT SHAPE, here is the description:

Danielle wanted this sun-shaped page to have an artsy, vibrant, funky feel to it. I love the high energy of her layout and decided to scraplift it. My layout isn't an exact sun shape, but look how I've started with a circle shape and then added ribbons and different patterns around the perimeter of my circle. For this challenge, look for a layout with a shap you love and challenge yourself to scraplift it.I realize that you can't see what she's talking about without the photos but I am including all of the prompts so you can get more of an idea. Have fun! GO!

I used a snowflake for my shape. Yes, it is a little lame-o, but I got it done and I love that picture of Alex from our big snow awhile back.

Wow! I did get something accomplished!

I also took several pictures today of the dogwoods that are in full bloom right now. My absolute favorites trees in the world. More later.

8/52 Elsie's 52 Week Challenge

Week #8 Group four photos: I love creating one-photo layouts, but sometimes I have more than one photograph to feature on a page. I like to take four (or more) photographs and cluster them together in a group. This makes them appear almost as one large focal-point photo but allows me to display more images at one time. Try it!

Okay, this one was a real challenge since I'm working with 3x5 index cards! I actually like the way it turned out though. This is my hub's horse, "Dog." My hubs is not crazy...well, maybe a little, but that's beside the point! *i digress...anyway.... He named him Dog because he said he followed him around like a dog. I know it's kind of lame, but he IS a male. Male=Simple minded! *dang, I did it again...sorry...anyway, Dog is full of "piss and vinegar" {as the saying goes} and he just has that hateful look in his eye all the time. It's really nothing personal, really! He just has major attitude - he cannot help it. His name is Dog for goodness sake! Would you not have a little bit of attitude if your name was Ape or Llama? I think he has somewhat of a complex personally.

He is a really gorgeous horse and does have some mad skills.

I took these pictures back when it snowed -in fact I posted one of these pictures that day here. The paper is American Crafts. I love the colors.

6/52 and 7/52 Elsies challenge

Thought I would post my week 6 & 7 of Elsie's 52 week challenge. I'm just glad I've made it to 7 weeks! Can I hear a whoop-whoop?

Week 6 challenge is to CREATE A RIBBON CLUSTER

Ribbons are beautiful accents on a page - no matter what! But why not take the next step? Challenge yourself to create an accent with a cluster of ribbons. Just tie two, three, four or more ribbons and cluster them together in the same area on your page. To finish the look, tie them onto cardstock, weave them through an embroidered border, or hook a tiny safety pin through them.

I have been wanting to use this cutie patootie picture of Amy with her many colors on.

Week#7 TAKE AN ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPH:
It's easy to capture photographs of family and events. But for this challenge, I want you to look through the lens of your camera as a photo enthusiast. Take a closer glance at things in your life that you might otherwise walk on by. Look for beauty in unexpected places, inside and outside of your home!

It was hard to choose one, I love taking off-the- wall pics, but I decided to go with this round hay picture from last Spring. I love the perspective against the blue sky.

5/52 Elsie's 52 week challenge

The challenge this week: bet you can find a place for a flower accent in your design. But take it up a notch. Embellish the center of your flower with a mini clock, a tiny thread tied button or patterned paper. And don't be afraid to turn a large flower shape into a photo frame.

I had to use this pic of Alex at some point. This is like her favorite picture ever! I took it while we were taking our family Christmas pictures back, end of of Nov - first of Dec. Anyway, I think it is a very good one too. I used some vintage gold notary seals and these great little owls that keep showing up on some of my favorite lo's! I also finally cut into another piece of my treasured Hambly. It always hurts to make that first cut. I don't know why! Maybe cause I'm a fREAK! Anyway the stems are pieces of a book page. This is not at all what I had pictured in my mind to do at first, but I really like the way it turned out. These challenges have been great for the creative.mojo.juices.

Speaking of Hambly...They have put up a sneak peek of their new brocade line on their blog. It is completely awesome looking and I cannot wait to see what else they do. I love working with their papers/overlays and need to try the rub-ons.

4/52 Elsies 52 week challenge

Cannot believe I actually finished my fourth week within the fourth week!

Make Your Own Chipboard AccentsChipboard is so popular right now! By making your own chipboard accents, you can add a custom look to any scrapbook page.

I fashioned these hearts from chipboard, glitter, paint and glue. Very messy and fun. I was going to add more to them, but decided I liked them more simple. Of course, the photo is Angus, my little Bub! I love this picture of him. He is a great dog!

Elsie 52 Week Challenge Week #3

Week #3 challenge for the 52 week challenge is:

No matter how you turn it or what you add to it (think buttons, lace, eyelets and embroidery floss), ribbon is a terrific page border that can be attached in so many creative ways -- with eyelets, brads, staples, embroidery floss and more.

I decided to choose a picture of Joe for this week since I did Jake for Week #2. Joe or JoJo or Joseph Rex (Rex was my Pa Hutch) is Jake's big bro. Joe has been dubbed "the six year old singing sensation!" This little guy is smarter and has more talent than most adults I know. He is full of faith and music and is truly a superKID!!! I love him dearly for his sensitivity.

Elsie 52 Week Challenge #2

The week two challenge over here on SIStv was posted last week:
FOCUS ON ONE PHOTO: Convert a favorite photograph into a black-and-white image, then use it as the focal-point photo on your page. It will draw your viewer's eye right into the essence of your layout!

Here is what I did:

This is my youngest (4 yo) cousin, Robert Jacob "Jake". I love taking his photos. He is so photogenic. This was Christmas Eve and my aunt had given him this vintage plaid hat and he wore it around most of the night. How many 4 yo's love getting clothes for Christmas? Well, this one does. He had gotten some kind of remote control flying thing and so we had to go outside in the freezing weather to fly it! I happen to capture him while he was watching it. I love how happy he looks and his little hand is so expressive.

Week#3 went up Tuesday, but I'm a wee bit behind, hopefully have it done this weekend.

Elsie's 52 Week Challenge

So I've taken alot of new "projects" on for the new year. I am a realist and know that I won't stick with all of them for 2008. In fact, I've not done so hot on my 365 challenge so far. I LOVE to take pictures, but it's hard for me to take them of myself on a day-to-day basis. I'm not giving up yet, but I'm just saying...
This 52 week challenge project along with my daily blessing cards which I am already doing anyway, and my bible in a year are three things I really think I can do. I have made my first week's layout and this cutie patootie cover based on Elise Blaha's instructions. I am loving the way it turned out. I used Elsie's paper and the self-adhesive fabric paper for the inside cover from the Roxie line. worked great!

Week 1 prompt which is being provided on the boards at SIStv by fellow Arkansan, Linda is straight from Elsie Flannigan's first book, 52 Scrapbooking Challenges.:

Work those words - Whether it's a quote, a list of your favorite adjectives or computer-generated phrases, journaling on strips of cardstock is a great way to add visual excitement to your page. Be creative and cut a favorite quote into pieces to add to your design.

I'm using regular standard sized notecards for my project. I thought it would be something different and I don't recall anyone else using them so I thought I would try something new.

Here is my week one:

This is a picture from Christmas of my Granny DeShazo and all her grand and great grand. We were taking serious pictures with her, but thought it would be fun to do a silly picture. I used transparency with a white Sharpie and pink acrylic painted on the backside. The picture looks discolored over Haley's face...please excuse that!

These prompts come out on Tuesday (i think) so I look forward to this week's challenge.
