odds and ends

First of all I am so excited that I have completed the first prompt in my art journal!

It felt so freeing to write, paint, mask, cover, tape, glue, ink, and gesso at will!

I will post photos soon...just never took a picture while the light was good.
I also worked more on my cover.

I urge you to join in the fun over at A Year in the Life of an Art Journal
This prompt is WHAT?
What is holding you back?
What is stopping you?
What are you afraid of?
What is keeping you from your potential? WHAT?!?

I love that Rachel showed her pages and even shared some fun techniques to try...which I did!

I have also taken my 3rd week's photo in my 52 project:
52-3

I am actually enjoying the process of doing this so far.
It has kind of made me think about lighting, position, and creativity more than I expected. I hope to push myself artistically with this as the year progresses. Today was such a beautiful springlike day I decided to break out some bright colored jewelry for my selfie. The crocheted cuff was the beginning of a dishcloth that I never finished last year. (I'm on a crochet kick again) I thought it made a cute cuff bracelet with some vintage trim laced through.

I photoshopped the color back in to this after converting to B&W. I actually like how it turned out!

The girls at Crazy Daisy Kit Co. have been busy getting February kits ready.
Check out the sneak:

How Yummy is that pink, green and black????

Kim and Jennifer are running a special right now too.  If you sign up by January 31st, they will throw in a special gift!  Who doesn't love extra schtuff?   Pre-order your now for shipping on February 10th.

Here is the link-up straight to the kit.

Stay tuned for pics from the art journal.

Memaw's mini book

As promised here is the mini book I made using December's Crazy Daisy Kit Co. mini-book:Memaw's 90th book
and a close-up of the cover:

So basically, I left the blank book and a Sharpie on the gift table at the party with a note to leave a little message for Memaw and to sign on the right hand side of the page. Several of the kiddos drew pictures for her and even though some people missed the note and signed other places, it worked out great and this turned into a meaningful project to memorialize a great day!

December Crazy Daisy layouts

I say it every month, but Kimberly & Jennifer have outdone themselves once again!
The December Crazy Daisy Kit Co. is fantastic and I have a couple of layouts to share.

And you must get over to the Crazy Daisy blog and see what guest designer {and photog extraordinaire} Becky Novacek has put together with the December kit.
I promise you will truly be inspired!

Jenifer and Kimberly have some special offers for teh month too, so get it on the deals while you can.  Keep in mind there will not be a kit in January, but I'm sure they'll be back in February with more lovliness! :)

Dec 5&6 aka "the Weekend!"

So I promised a pic of the Crazy Daisy Kit that was my happy mail on Friday.
Instead I give you a little sneak from a project I've completed with said kit:
Sneak Peek

It's awesome - and you can order one for yourself right now.
They will be shipping the end of this week!

So along with a little scrap time this weekend, I also was involved in the Ash Flat Christmas Parade.
I drove this rather awesome 67 Chevy truck for my Uncle Robert and Joe & Jake, so they could ride in back and throw candy. Robert is running for Arkansas State Representative for District 82. If you live in the district, we'd appreciate your vote! :)
(okay political ad concluded)

Not alot of photos from the parade...hard to take pics when you are in the parade, ya know!?

And today, well, today has been a nice relaxing kind of day. I went to church, a short trip for groceries, and an afternoon of scrapbooking and Hallmark Christmas movies. ahhhhhh my ideal Sunday afternoon!

On another notes, I did get my December Daily caught up through yesterday, so I guess my system is working so far!

Everyone have a good week.
I am on Christmas vacation countdown....two weeks and counting. :)

Doing it Accordian style!

So each month I say it, but I truly love this month's Crazy Daisy Kit!
Take this mini accordian album by Bazzill for instance:
I made this for a little gift for my great friend Nancy.  She and Alex began this Fall/Halloween gathering a few years ago adn it has now grown into a fun annual tradition that is one of my favorite events.
I made the album and included photos through the years:

Daily Blessings

So I missed a couple of weeks on my daily blessings, but I'm not going to sweat it!

I was so surprised and happy to receive a sweet card from my friend Mandie.

It was definitely a blessing and I had to document it - I used the envelope for this one:

10-31-09

Who doesn't love an envelope with a cute inside liner? :)

BTW, I linked up her blog, you must check out her husband Gabe's Halloween costume - the boy went all out! Even shaved his head to get into character.

This entire weekend has been so pretty! I'd say we deserve it after all the cruddy weather and rain we've had.

11-1-09

This ATC was made with some Crazy Daisy Kit Co. from November.

Life may not always be perfect, but I challenge you to find the blessings in every day this week!
